Freida Pinto is an Indian actress and model, best known for her role “Latika” in “Slumdog Millionaire” from 2008. She won a Screen Actors Guild Award for “Outstanding Performance” by “Cast in a Motion Picture”. In 2010, she starred in “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” and as the main character in “Miral”.
Freida Pinto was born in October 1984 into a Mangalorean Catholic family in Mumbai. Her father “Frederick”, was senior branch manager at the “Bank of Baroda”, and her mother “Sylvia”, was principal at “St. John’s Universal High School”. She has an older sister “Sharon”, who is an associate producer for “NDTV news channel”. Freida Pinto has dreamed of being a Bollywood actress since she was 5. When she was 10, the Indian model “Sushmita Sen” won “Miss Universe 1994″, which became a defining point for Freida Pinto. She studied at “Carmel of St. Joseph School” in Malad, Mumbai. She completed a “Bachelor of Arts” with a major in English Literature, with minors in Psychology and Economics. At that time she started acting in plays and amateur theater. She later joined “Elite Model Management” and became a model for about 2 1/2 years, til she started her acting cereer.
Before starring in Slumdog Millionaire, Freida Pinto anchored a travel show called “Full Circle”, on “Zee International Asia Pacific” between 2006 and 2008. Freida Pinto also showed up in several TV and print ads for products like Wrigley’s Chewing Gum, Škoda, Vodafone India, Airtel, and De Beers. Freida Pinto also appeared in runway shows and magazine covers. She then attended The Barry John’s Acting Studio in Andheri, and was trained by Barry John himself. After 6 months, she got an audition for Slumdog Millionaire. She was short-listed and then selected. In the movie she was playing the role of “Latika”, the girl with whom Jamal “Dev Patel” was in love with. At the Toronto International Film Festival in 2008, Slumdog Millionaire won the “Cadillac People’s Choice Award”. At the Golden Globe Awards in 2009, Slumdog Millionaire won four awards! Freida Pinto was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the BAFTA Awards same year. She won the “Screen Actors Guild Award” for Outstanding Performance by “Cast in a Motion Picture”.
Later Freida Pinto co-starred in Woody Allen’s “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger”, with Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Anupam Kher and Naomi Watts in 2010. Freida Pinto will appear in “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, which is due in 2011. She will play the role of “Caroline”, a primatologist, who studies primates. She will also appear Immortals (also 2011), in which she will play the role of the priestess “Phaedra”.

Born in England to an English/Italian Mum and Hatian dad, Heidi began performing at the age of 4 years old for family and friends. After Relocating to New Jersey Heidi Marie developed her voice and began writing songs at the age of 12. Heidi perfomed in various talent shows and musical productions throughout New York, New Jersey and Pa. From there Heidi, went on the road with various Musical Theatre productions touring throughout the U.S and Canada. Shortly after relocating to Los Angeles..Heidi went on to sing background vocals for Paula Abdul, Technotronix, Ya kid k, as well as other pop and R&B acts, as well as singing in different live funk and rock bands around the los angeles area. Heidi Marie is cultivating her craft and always working on new material. She is currently in the studio working with various producers on her upcoming debut C.D. “The Woman I am”. Besides perfoming with her band, Heidi is also pursuing an acting career and can be seen in various national commercials, as well as independent movies.
